![]() Fighting
"Fighting types? They're the worst! I mean, they're weak to Psychic!" -Anonymous A very overlooked type are the fighters. They always seem to be pushed to the side, whether it be by the members of Sabrina's Gym who rudely took advantage of Fighting's weakness to Psychic and claimed official Pokemon League status in Saffron, or just by that Hypno you really want to fit in your team, so it's good bye Machamp. Not that Hypno doesn't deserve to be on your team. Quite the opposite! But that's a topic for another time and place. On to the Advantages, baby!Fighting/Half Damage from...Bug Rock Double Damage from... Psychic Flying Water/FightingHalf Damage from...Fire Water Bug Rock Ice Double Damage from... Machamp - ![]() HP- 383 Attack- 358 Defense- 258 Speed- 208 Special- 228 Machamp's
almost undoubtably the best Fighting type pokemon. He has an awesome
attack, and great HP. His Defense and Special aren't bad for a Fighting
type, but Speed is noticably sub par. He doesn't learn the wide range
of elemental moves that Primeape does, but that doesn't matter. After
all, with that Special, why would you want to use them? On the other
hand, Machamp learns a number of good Physical attacks, like Rock
Slide, Body Slam, etc. ------------------- Primeape - ![]() HP- 333 Attack- 308 Defense- 218 Speed- 288 Special- 218 Primeape
is a pretty decent pokemon. He has great Speed, Good Attack and HP,
but poor Defense and Special. On the other hand, he can learn the
largest variety of moves of any Fighting, rivalled only by Poliwrath.
One of the main things I use Primeape for is a legendary bird killer.
His speed plus the 4x weakness 2 of the 3 birds have equals almost
instant death. Stadium ------------------- Hitmonchan - ![]() HP- 303 Attack- 308 Defense- 256 Speed- 250 Special- 168 Hitmonchan,
the worst fully evolved form of all the Fighters. While his Attack,
Defense and Speed are good as far as fighting types go, his HP and
Special are horrendous. If you can look past his stats, you'll find
nothing. The moves he learns rival Magikarp's in usefulness. Heh,
I can count the good moves he learns on one hand. But enough of picking
on Chan for his less than great moveset capabilities. ------------------- Hitmonlee - ![]() HP- 303 Attack- 338 Defense- 204 Speed- 272 Special- 168 Unlike
his punching counterpart, Lee is a decent pokemon. His stats aren't
anything mind blowing, his HP and Special are as bad as Hitmonchan's,
and his defense is much worse. On the other hand, he's fairly quick
and has a great attack. The moves he learns are suited much better
to him then the moves learned by 'Chan. Hitmonlee also learns Focus
Energy, which can be a great help in Stadium. Like Chan, Lee is best
suited for all out offense. Stadium ------------------- Poliwrath - ![]() HP- 383 Attack- 268 Defense- 288 Speed- 238 Special- 238 Poliwrath
is the only Fighting type who has a second type. Being part water
type brings a whole new dimension of strengths and weaknesses to Poliwrath.
He has the highest Defense and Special of any of the Fighting types,
not that that's saying much. His HP, which actually is pretty good,
is tied for first as well. His special is only average and his Attack
is fairly weak. Predictably, Poliwrath can master many Water and Ice
moves, but this above average fighting type has one thing that sets
him apart, Amnesia. OR |
