![]() Steel
Steel
types usually have excellent Defense, medium-good attack but have poor
speed. Although there are so few, Steel types are common in advance play
because most learn excellent moves. There is no pure Steel type.

Wing, 70 power, 99.6% accuracy, 10% chance of raising user's
Defense. A
pretty good move, can be only learnt by two steel types: Skarmory and
Scizor. However it can be also be taught to many other flying Pokémon.
The best steel move. Iron
Tail, 100 power, 74.6% accuracy, 10% chance of lowering Defense. This
attack is very average. Its power is good but the accuracy brings it
down. Steelix is the only steel type that can learn it, meaning it's the
only Pokémon in the game that can get STAB from it. It can also be
learnt by many other Pokémon that have tails such as Ampharos and
Raticate. However, this move is not recommended on any Pokémon.
Steel
Pokémon
Forretress
is my personal favourite Steel Pokémon. It leads my team because I
think it is the best spiker as do many. It would be stupid to use it as
anything else BUT a spiker. Forretresss are becoming common as starters
now so you have to watch out for people that have a fire move on their
starter such as Fire Punching Alakazam and Fire Blasting Tyranitar,
Snorlax, Dragonite and even Machamp. It's attack is pretty good which
means Explosion is a must. For the other moves you should choose two
from the following: Double-Edge, Rapid Spin, Reflect, Hidden Power Bug.
In my opinion Forretress should have at least one attack. Max

Scizor
is nearly always used as a Baton Passer. Most of the time it passes
Agility and/or Swords Dance to something like Marowak or Tyranitar. You
should always make sure you can switch to a hazer or a psuedo-hazer when
they are using the stat boosts because it's hard to beat a really fast
Pokémon with their attack doubled. Scizor can also be used to baton
pass Double Team or even as an all out attacker. Common moves seen on
Scizor are: Steel Wing, Agility, Baton Pass, Swords Dance, Double Team,
Return, Frustration, Hidden Power Bug, Rest. To get a Scizor you need to
trade a Scyther with a Metal Coat attached. Max

Skarmory
is very, very common. Most people use it because of it's fantastic defense,
pretty good attack, and the fact that it can beat half the Pokémon in
the game without trouble. Most people use it as a Psuedo-Hazer and for
countering Tyranitar, Snorlax and Machamp that are known to sweep
easily. The standard (and best) Skarmory moveset is Curse, Drill Peck,
Whirlwind, Steel Wing/Rest. Skarmory is the only Pokémon in the game
that learns Steel Wing by level. The best thing to beat a Skarmory would
be an Electric type, fire type, or something with a high Special Attack. Max

I
am not a big fan of Steelix, as its attack is not as high as fellow,
better ground types. It's Earthquake can't even OHKO Gengar, one of the
reasons people would have a ground type. The only Steel move that
Steelix can learn is Iron Tail, which I think is a waste of a spot
because of its low accuracy. Moves found on Steelix are: Earthquake,
Rock Slide, Screech, Rest, Roar, Explosion, Body Slam, Return,
Frustration, Crunch (NOT recommended). The best thing to beat one would
to be a water/fire. To get a Steelix you need to trade an Onix with a
Metal Coat attached. Stats

Used
to be a pure Electric type, now an Electric and Steel Type, Magneton is,
quite frankly, crap. The fact that is now a Steel Type as well DOESN'T
make it better against other types, as it now has a weakness to Fire and
Fighting type moves. It also gives it a smelly 4X Weakness to Earthquake
which is NOT good. Magneton should only be used in fun teams and
mono-type steel teams. A possible moveset would be something like:
Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Substitute, Rest. Beating one is a piece of
cake.
