Battling

Rawr. Now we're talking. This explains the basic physics of Pokémon battling in the Game Boy Colour/Advance.

There are four types of battles: Wild, Trainer, Boss, and Link Cable. Wild battles occur when you stroll around in tall grass, and suddenly some music starts and you go into the battle screen. Kinda like random encounters in the Final Fantasy Games. Trainer Types of Battles are when you're walking along, and suddenly an exclaimation mark appears on a person nearby's head. Then they come up to you, say something silly, and you are plunged into the battle screen. The third type, Boss, is when you're fighting a Gym Leader or a member of the elite four, or Ash. You walk up to them, speak to them by tapping A, and they say some arrogant stuff and you go into the battle screen. Link battles are against another person, joined together by a link cable. You can get link cables anywhere.....

NOTE: All of these battles have the same type of physics.

Getting Started

The Battle Screen

Yep, the battle screen. It is when you go into a battle, as it says above. You see yourself first, and the Pokémon in the first slot of your team comes out. In trainer and gym battles, the enemy is shown first, and then they send out a Pokémon. Whatever type of battle, you'll get the following options:

FIGHT   RUN

PKMN    BAG

FIGHT

Booyaka. This option is your main option, basically to attack. Depending on what moves your Pokémon has, when you press fight, the moves of your Pokémon will come up. Choose any move, and the Pokémon will use that move.

RUN

Only works in wild battles. Once again, similar to the Final Fantasy Series. If it's a wild Pokémon, then you can run from them. Useful when you're sick and tired of battling. Don't try running from trainers, bosses, or link battles; it won't work.

PKMN
This is to switch to another Pokémon in your six Pokémon team. You press Switch, and it shows all your Pokémon. Press A on the new Pokémon to bring it out. You'll find yourself switching a lot in hardcore battles against other players.

BAG

This is to use an item that you may have gotten. Potions, etc. This doesn't work in Link Battles, so beware. >=|

Okay, we have the commands up scratch. What happpens next?

The start of the battle

This is what you'll see in a trainer, boss, or link battle.

ENEMY wants to battle!

ENEMY sent out [enemy Pokémon]!

Go [your Pokémon]!

Then you'll be prompted to use a command.

The commands

Fight:

It goes something like this. (Boss, Trainer, and Link) Replace

[Pokémon] with the Pokémon used, and [move] with the move(s) used.

DARTHSIDIOUS's [Pokémon] used [move]!

ENEMY'S [Pokémon] used [move]!

Say you used Thunderbolt with a Jolteon, and your opponent is a Flareon, who uses Flamethrower.

DARTHSIDIOUS's Jolteon used THUNDERBOLT!

ENEMY's Flareon used FLAMETHROWER!

Or something like that.

If status inflictions happen i.e Paralyzation then:

DARTHSIDIOUS's Jolteon used THUNDERBOLT!

ENEMY's Flareon is paralyzed! It may not attack!

ENEMY's Flareon used FLAMETHROWER!

etc. I'll explain Status inflictions later on.

PKMN

This is to switch. This is what happens:

DARTHSIDIOUS withdrew [yourPokémon]

DARTHSIDIOUS sent out [newPokémon]!

ENEMY's [Pokémon] used [move]!

Let's say we took out Jolteon, and sent out Gyarados. Then:

DARTHSIDIOUS withdrew Jolteon!

DARTHSIDIOUS sent out Gyarados!

ENEMY's Flareon used FLAMETHROWER!

It's not very effective....

The "It's not very effective..." part is to do with Type Effectiveness. More on that later.

BAG:

This is to use an item. This DOES NOT work in Link battles. The action varies for the item. I'll do something for recover items like potions. When you press bag, you select an item, then, assuming it's a potion or something, you get a list of the Pokémon to use it on. If it's something special like a pokeflute, then:

DARTHSIDIOUS played the POKEFLUTE!

All sleeping Pokémon woke up!

ENEMY's [Pokémon] used [move]!

etc.

Status Inflictions

This is a slightly complicated part of battling. Status Inflictions are certain statuses that get inflicted on the enemy Pokémon. The status Inflictions are: PAR(Paralyzation), BRN(Burn), PSN(Poison), SLP(Sleep), and FRZ(Freeze). There are also attraction and confusion, which don't show up on the Pokémon's status, simply cause they can be rid of by switching, while the aforementioned others cannot. Let's get started on the statuses then.

PAR(Paralyzation): This is, in my opinion, the most useful status infliction. It paralyzes the opponent, and there is a 25% chance each turn of being fully paralyzed. When fully paralyzed, you get a free turn. Something like this:

DARTHSIDIOUS's Jolteon used THUNDERBOLT!

ENEMY's Flareon was paralyzed!

An FP(Full Paralyzation) is when the 25% chance goes your way.

DARTHSIDIOUS's Jolteon used Thunderbolt!

ENEMY's Flareon is fully paralyzed.

Also, paralyzation decreases your opponent's speed to 1/4, which will almost certainly make your Pokémon go first. Blargh. =D Atttacks that can inflict paralyzation are: Thunder Wave(Always), Thunderbolt(10% chance) Thunder(30% chance), Spark(30% chance), Thundershock(10% chance), Body Slam(30% chance) Zap Cannon(Always), Tri Attack(6.6% Chance), Thunderpunch(10%). Email me if there are any more, and I'll add to the list. ^_^

BRN(Burn): A not so useful status which takes off 12% of the opponent's health every turn. However, it also decreases your oppoonent's attack by 50%. Making it nice. =P

DARTHSIDIOUS's Ho-oh used SACRED FIRE!

ENEMY's Togepi was burnt!

ENEMY's Togepi used Return!

ENEMY's Togepi is hurt by the burn.

There you have it. Moves that can burn: Sacred Fire(50% chance), Flamethrower(10% chance), Fire Blast(10% chance), Ember(10% chance), and Tri attack(6.6% chance). Email me if there are any more. kthxbye! =D

PSN(Poison): Like burn, takes off 12% off your health every turn, with the exception of the move Toxic. Toxic is a slightly more potent poison move, which takes off 1/16th HP on the first turn, 1/8th HP on the second turn, 1/4th HP on the third turn, etc.

DARTHSIDIOUS's Muk used SLUDGE BOMB!

ENEMY's Togepi was poisoned!

ENEMY's Togepi used Return!

ENEMY's Togepi is hurt by the Poison.

Or in Toxic's case:

DARTHSIDIOUS's Muk used TOXIC!

ENEMY's Togepi was badly poisoned!

ENEMY's Togepi used Return!

ENEMY's Togepi is hurt by the Poison.

Slightly different. Note, however, that if you switch out of toxic, it turns into normal poison. Moves that can poison: Sludge Bomb(30%(Correct me if I'm wrong)), Toxic(Special), Sludge, Poisonpowder. Email me with corrections and more moves, if you want. This list isn't complete, I'm sure. Off to TPM to check... Stay tuned for updates! ^^

SLP(Sleep): This is also quite useful. It puts the opponent to sleep for a random amount of turns. During sleep, they cannot attack at all as long as they are asleep, with the exception of the moves Sleep talk and Snore.

DARTHSIDIOUS's Venusaur used Sleep Powder!

ENEMY's Togepi went to sleep!

ENEMY's Togepi is fast asleep.

OR:

DARTHSIDIOUS's Venusaur used Sleep Powder!

But it failed!

ENEMY's Togepi used RETURN!

etc.

Sleep Talk selects a random move to use when they are asleep.

ENEMY's Togepi is fast asleep!

ENEMY's Togepi used SleepTalk!

ENEMY's Togepi used Return!

etc.

The move REST puts yourself to sleep for 2 turns, but recovers all health and status affects. Nice. ^_^ Moves that can inflict sleep: Loveley Kiss(75%), Sleep Powder(75%), Spore(99%), Rest(On yourself), Hypnosis(70%), and Sing. Email me if there are any more.

NOTE: The moves Dream Eater and Nightmare only work when the opponent is asleep.

FRZ(Freeze): The best status effect, but very hard to come by. This freezes the opponent, and when frozen, they cannot do anything at all. This is the best status effect, but as I said, very hard to come by unless you are extremely lucky.

DARTHSIDIOUS's Articuno used Ice Beam!

ENEMY's Togepi was frozen solid!

ENEMY's Togepi is frozen solid.

Moves that can Freeze: Blizzard(10%), Ice Beam(10%), and Tri Atttack(6.6%), Ice Punch(10%). Email me if there are any more.....

Type Effectiveness

Type effectiveness is quite basic. If a move of a certain element is "super effective" against a move of another element, then the move does double damage. If it's "not very effective" then it does half damage. Below is a list of all the types that are effective and weak against what types. If they "don't affect" the other type, then the move doesn't work against other types.

Whew. That took some time. =/ That's the whole type chart. I wish I knew ASCII Art...... ;[ Anyway. That's the end of this long chapter.

The GSBOT (Online Battling)

I was actually planning to bring this section later on, after the basic and Advanced Strategies. But I believe you need to know about the online simulator of Pokémon Battling first. (hereby known as GSBot) The GSBot is a rather complicated piece of script, used to simulate online battling. It is entirely text based. This section is only if you want to battle online. If you don't, don't bother.

How To Get GSBot

  1. Download mIRC from www.mIRC.com

  2. Extract the files into a folder

  3. Run mIRC.

  4. You will see a picture of some man. Close that little window. You will then see another small window that opens, with the title "mIRC Options"

  5. Type in your name, email, and Name where it says.

  6. Close the mIRC Options window.

  7. You will see an empty window just like notepad in front of you.

  8. In the thing at the bottom, where you can type, type: /server irc.mediadriven.com  (with the / and everything. Copy and paste if you must)

  9. Press Enter. =/

  10. You'll see a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo ignore it all.

  11. A window will pop up with the title "mIRC Channels folder" on it.

  12. In the window where you can type, type: #battlezone.

  13. Click on JOIN.

  14. Here, you'll see the screen where everyone is battling.

If you got that far, you're pretty smart. *prepares to get hit by barrage of emails asking this and that* NOTE: this doesn't work if you have anything below the 18 level of Parental Controls in AOL. You won't be able to use GSBot like that. Tough. =D

Now open a web browser and in the URL bar, type: http://www.geocities.com/charmeleon42/gsbot.html

That link should explain how to use it all. Ask someone for a practice battle. Also, if you want, type /join #pokegsc in the window to join my "channel". Channels are like #battlezone. They are basically.....chat rooms. =/ #battlezone is not a chat room, thanks to some script, but it looks like one. Anyway, #pokegsc is my channel. Go in there sometmes by typing /join #pokegsc wherever you want. Look for me under the screen name "Sidjus". =D

Basic Strategies

This section is all about basic strategies you should employ in battling. Where to start.....Ah, yes. You need a good team. A GOOD team. Not a team with Charmanders with Ember, or Pikachus with Thundershock. You need a fully evolved, great movesets team. If you're using the GSBot, then you get the Pokémon that you want, at any level and any moves.

Making a Team

The basic format of a team would be something like: Starter/Special Attacker/Curser or Sweeper or Heal Beller/Hazer/Heal Beller or Perish Trapper/Physical Attacker.  Here, I'll explain them all in depth. This is assuming you want a normal, rather standard team.

Starter

The starter. Once again, assuming you want a normal standard team, the lead Pokémon should be an extremely fast Pokémon, that can immediately start inflicting stat changes like paralysis on the enemy. I use a Jolteon with Thunderbolt, Thunder Wave, Attract, Substitute. This manages to keep the enemy Pokémon paralyzed and infatuated, while beating them down with Thunderbolts. Alternatively, you could use a spiker. Spikers are, quite simply, Pokémon with the moves spikes on them. The Pokémon that cna learn spikes are Cloyster, Qwilfish, Forretress, and Smeargle. Spikes takes off 12% of the enemy every time they switch. 12% may seem a little, but it hella annoys the opponent, and can even be the difference between wins and losses. If they have low health Pokémon that are faster than your Pokémon, they might be able to bring them in, rest, and they have a fresh new Pokémon. However, with spikes, any poke below 12% dies on a switch. Quite the life saver. I once beat 3 Pokémon just because they got switched in and promptly died. Onto the next Pokémon....

Special Attacker

The name says it all here. A special attacker should have mostly if not all special attacks, and perhaps a recovery move. The poke should have a high special attack stat as well. No special attacking Miltank allowed. >:| Rawr. I have Suicune and Jolteon as my special sweepers. Suicune also covers the hazer slot with Roar, which acts as haze. More on that later. In any case, Dragonite is a great special sweeper, that can learn many special attacks. A good Draggy set would be Fire Blast, Thunderbolt, Rest, IceBeam/Return. Return would take advantage of his attack stat, and the others would use his good special attack stat for 00ber elemental coverage. Nice.

Curser or Heal Beller

Cursers are basically Pokémon that have curse. Curse, when used on a non ghost type, will raise your attack and defense stats each time, but decrease your speed stats. If you have a high special defense, and low speed then you have a perfect curser. Snorlax is THE best curser, IMO. Many people consider him cheap, since once cursed up, he sweeps entire teams. If you have a Hazer, then Cursers are easy to deal with. Anyway, I'd suggest using a Snorlax with: Curse, Return, Earthquake, Rest. Once cursed up, his attack stat will be 00ber high. Return and EQ both run off the attack stat, so there you have it. Earthquake is for pesky ghosts that get in the way of return. I use a sleep talking snorlax, which basically has sleep talk over Earthquake. So when I rest, I can still attack and/or curse up. Alternatively, you can use a Heal Beller in this spot. I use a blissey as my Heal Beller(Softboiled, Heal Bell, Light Screen, Ice Beam). Heal Bellers are necessary because if your whole team is paralyzed, then you can't undo the PAR, except by Heal Belling. VERY useful. Miltank and blissey are the best Heal Bellers, and so is Celebi if you don't mind using him. Granbull is too vulnerable to be a heal beller in my opinion. Also, there is a strategy called Bell resting which involves resting, then bringing in the heal beller to heal bell and make the sleeping/resting Pokémon wake up. Anyway, onto..

Hazer

Yes, hazer. VERY necessary, since these days on GSBot Curselax and other cursers and/or stat upping Pokémon are being used. Bring out the hazer, and all their stat ups are gone. Roar and Whirlwind are also a form of hazing, since they make the opponent switch, therefore throwing all of it's stat uppers away. I use a Suicune with Roar, Surf, Mirror Coat, and Rest for this job. Hazers should last a match, which is why we have rest.

Heal Beller, Perish Trapper or Physical Attacker

If you had curser in slot 3, go with Heal Beller in this slot. Read slot 3 for heal Beller's explaination. Perish Trappers are Pokémon that have Mean Look, and Perish Song. The purpose is to trap with Mean Look, then Perish sing. Usually, these Pokémon have protect, so that they can protect until the perish count reaches one. Then we switch out to another Pokémon, while the opponent dies of the perish song. I use Misdreavus with Mean Look, Perish Song, Protect, and Rest for this one. Physical attackers are Pokémon with moves that are based on the attack stat. Pokémon that have HIGH attack stats like Rhydon, Golem, etc are good Physical sweepers. I have my physical sweeper in slot 6, which is....

Physical Attacker or Miscellaneous Pokémon

My physical attacker is Machamp with Cross Chop, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Rest. He covers Fighting, Rock, and Ground types and is therefore very important. Read slot 5 for more info on physical attackers. Miscellaneous is basically....a favorite Pokémon or some Pokémon you really like to use. It's up to you who to choose.

That's the team section in a nutshell. There are many types of team, like TSS, BPing chain teams, and more. TSS stands for Toxic SandStorm Spikes. They lay down spikes, and put a sandstorm up while poisoning al the opponent's Pokémon. They'll be switching like crazy to get rid of everything, and they still die. These teams usually consist of steel Pokémon, since steel Pokémon are immune to sandstorm. Combine with Protect for the best results. BPing teams are teams with Baton Pass. They usually have Scizor or something to Swords Dance, Agility, etc. and Pass to a Pokémon, who, with the stat uppers, can sweep whole teams. The problem with this team is that a Hazer screws up all your hard work in a few seconds.

Basic and Advanced Battling Strategies

Eh. So we have our perfect team. What next? Using it. Here are some tips of mine to use in battles. Bear in mind that you need to use your head to win battles, not just these tips. These may give you a hand, but in the end, it's you and experience that count. Slowly, you'll get better and more experienced, and get an idea of what battling is really all about..

1) Predict all kinds of things. Predict. PREDICT. PREDICT!!!! Rawr. Predict what your opponent will do. If you have a Suicune out, and they have a Jolteon, they'll obviously Thunderbolt cause Electric is super effective on Water. What do you do? Switch to a type that is resistant to Electric attacks. If you have a Ground type like Marowak on your team, switch to it. The Thunderbolt will hit Marowak instead and do no damage at all. Depending on who you battle, you'll have to predict more and more, to the point where you're predicting predictions. For example, take a scenario where a Forretress(Steel/Bug) is out against a Houndoom(Fire/Dark). Forretress is excessively weak to fire attacks, so the opponent might think that no one in their right mind would leave Forretress out. So they go for a prediction, and use the free turn taken in switching to use Sunny Day, while you can predict a prediction and keep Forretress in to lay the spikes. This is only really used at extremely high levels of GSBot battling i.e Tournaments and stuff. Stay with basic predictions, then go for bigger ones depending on your opponent. Which brings me to...

2) Know your opponent. This will be difficult at first, but later when you get more experienced, you will know who is good and who isn't. Then bring your prediction level up or down depending on your opponent. For example if you're playing a really high level opponent, then predict predictions etc. On the other hand, you don't even need to bother if you're playing someone at a low level. Prejudice sucks, but hey, this is Pokémon. =/

3) This is obvious, but I must state it: THINK BEFORE YOU MOVE. Don't go rushing into things. You need the foresight of a chess player and the cunning of a fox to win against higher level players. Concentrate.

More to come, as I dig deep into my rather microscopic brain..... =/

Battles on GSbot

Okay, this is the section where you can analyze some of the battles that I or other players have done with higher level players. This is also a section where we will study extremely advanced player's battles. The GSBot way of speaking is different from in game, but it's easy enough to read. And we're off with two extremely good battlers, out of which one I consider to be the best in GS that I know. Yes, better than Ian Garvey. *runz*

Begin battle: Nin10d0h_MSST vs. _Degnared!

Nin10d0h_MSST sent out I'M_GOING_TO_EAT_YOU! (SNORLAX M L100)!

Degnared sent out Labistose (BLASTOISE M L100)!

Snorlax vs Blastoise. =D

Degnared withdrew BLASTOISE!

Degnared sent out GutoreGex (EXEGGUTOR M L100)!

Nin10d0h_MSST's SNORLAX used BODY SLAM!

Degnared's EXEGGUTOR recovered with LEFTOVERS.

Nin10d0h_MSST's SNORLAX is at 100% health.

Degnared's EXEGGUTOR is at 75% health.

I don't know why he didn't switch to steelix, but in any case, Eggy a reasonable defense, so there you go. Or maybe he wants to put the Snorlax to Sleep.

Degnared's EXEGGUTOR used SLEEP POWDER!

Nin10d0h_MSST's SNORLAX went to sleep!

Nin10d0h_MSST's SNORLAX is fast asleep!

Degnared's EXEGGUTOR recovered with LEFTOVERS.

Nin10d0h_MSST's SNORLAX is at 100% health and asleep.

Degnared's EXEGGUTOR is at 81% health.

Yep. Sleep. =D Sleeping Snorlaxes aren't good. ;_;

Degnared withdrew EXEGGUTOR!

Degnared sent out Leetsix (STEELIX M L100)!

Nin10d0h_MSST withdrew SNORLAX!

Nin10d0h_MSST sent out ATOMIC_BOMB (FORRETRESS M L100)!

Nin10d0h_MSST's FORRETRESS is at 100% health.

Degnared's STEELIX is at 100% health.

Dee switched to Steelix either cause he suspected sleep talk, or for some other reason. Either way, he knew Nin wasn't keeping Snorlax in, so perhaps he wanted to risk it with a type advantage. =/

Nin10d0h_MSST's FORRETRESS used SPIKES!

SPIKES scattered all around Degnared's STEELIX!

Degnared's STEELIX used CURSE!

Degnared's STEELIX's SPEED fell!

Degnared's STEELIX's ATTACK went up!

Degnared's STEELIX's DEFENSE went up!

Nin10d0h_MSST's FORRETRESS is at 100% health.

Degnared's STEELIX is at 100% health.

It's a Cursing Steelix! Forry lays down the spikes, while Steelix curses up. I wouldn't want to be that Forretress....

Nin10d0h_MSST withdrew FORRETRESS!

Nin10d0h_MSST sent out SUICUNE (SUICUNE L100)!

Degnared's STEELIX used EARTHQUAKE!

Nin10d0h_MSST's SUICUNE recovered with LEFTOVERS.

Nin10d0h_MSST's SUICUNE is at 68% health.

Degnared's STEELIX is at 100% health.

An Earthquake takes a sizable chunk off him.

Nin10d0h_MSST's SUICUNE used SURF!

It's super effective!

Degnared's STEELIX used EXPLOSION!

Nin10d0h_MSST's SUICUNE fainted!

Degnared's STEELIX fainted!

Dee knew that Suicune played an important role in Nin's team, prolly as hazer. So he decided to explode, perhaps to pave the way for cursers later on....

Nin10d0h_MSST withdrew SUICUNE!

Nin10d0h_MSST sent out ZAPDOS (ZAPDOS L100)!

Degnared withdrew STEELIX!

Degnared sent out Labistose (BLASTOISE M L100)!

Degnared's BLASTOISE's hurt by SPIKES!

Degnared's BLASTOISE recovered with LEFTOVERS.

Nin10d0h_MSST's ZAPDOS is at 100% health.

Degnared's BLASTOISE is at 94% health.

Eh. Random, or maybe Nin suspected Blastoise. Anyway. =/

Mirror coat returns double the damage as long as the attack is a special attack. Nin is smart enough not to Thunderbolt, since a Mirror Coat would one hit KO the Zapdos. He Drill Pecks, cause Drill Peck is a physical attack. Dee must have predicted this, because he knew Nin would check for Mirror Coat. A classic case of knowing your opponent.

Movesets

Okay, I made my own moveset guide. Thanks for the previous one, striker! I kept some of his movesets, however, but most are changed.

#003 Venusaur
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Growth
- Leech Seed

@Leftovers

Put them to sleep, then boost your special attack with Growth while healing with leech seed, and leftovers. Giga Drain will do superb damage.

#006 Charizard
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Rest
- Earthquake
@Mint Berry
Earthquake for Rocks, Sunny Day + Fire Blast = Power, and Rest + Mint Berry for happy healing.

#009 Blastoise
- Haze/Roar
- Surf
- Earthquake
- Rest
@Leftovers
Blastoise is an excellent Hazer. Haze and Roar accomplish the same purposes; if you were to use this Blastoise in a Spikes team, Roar would be the choice. It's a matter of personal preference. Earthquake covers the more common Electric weakness. With Rest, Blastoise is nearly unstoppable.

#009 Blastoise(2)

- Haze/Roar

- Surf

- Mirror Coat

- Rest

@Mint Berry

Mirror Coat for any Thunderbolts coming your way, and Haze/Roar is your choice. Rest Berry for happy healing. :P

#012 Butterfree

- Curse

- HP Bug

- Sleep Powder

- Rest

@MintBerry

Courtesy of DarkLickitung.

#015 Beedrill

- Swords Dance

- HP Bug

- Sludge Bomb

- Rest

@Mint Berry

Har, nice if you can get it set up. Another DL moveset.

#018 Pidgeot

- Double Edge

- Rest/Protect

- Mirror Move

- Wing Attack

@Leftovers

Protect to get some healing with Leftovers. The rest is self explainatory.

#020 Raticate
- Return

- Curse

- Super Fang/Shadow Ball

- Rest

@Mint Berry

Curse up, and sweep. Rest Berry for happy healing. Super Fang won't be needed when you're fully cursed, and Shadow Ball gives protection against Ghosts, so I'll leave that choice up to you.

#022 Fearow

- Drill Peck

- Double edge

- Mirror Move

- Substitute

@Leftovers

...

#024 Arbok
- Glare
- Screech/Haze
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
@Leftovers
Screech is great. If you need Haze, go for it instead. Earthquake is a quality move, and anything that can get it should have it.

#026 Raichu
- Surf
- Thunderbolt/Thunder
- Light Screen/Reflect/RainDance
- Thunder Wave
@Leftovers
Standard. If you have RainDance in the third slot, go with Thunder in the second. Else, go with Thunderbolt.

#028 Sandslash
- Rest
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
@Mint Berry
Pwnage.

#031 Nidoqueen:
- Rest
- Roar/Ice Beam
- Earthquake
- Thunderbolt
@Mint Berry
Attacker. Use Roar if you need it, else use Ice Beam. Rest berry for happy healing. =D

#034 Nidoking:
- Rest
- Flamethrower
- Earthquake
- Counter/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam
@Mint Berry
Counter is predictible, but is a nice surprise to earthquaking opponents. Use whatever you want in the last slot. Rest berry for happy healing. :D

#036 Clefable:
- Fire Blast/Flamethrower
- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Moonlight
@Leftovers
Standard.

#038 Ninetales:
- Attract
- Confuse Ray
- Sunny Day
- Flamethrower
@Leftovers
Paratraction, and Sunny Day + Fire Blast. Makes it hard for the opponent to hit you..

#040 Wigglytuff:

Standard. Wigglytuff should get recover. >:O Use whatever you like as your item.

- Sludge Bomb

- Moonlight

- Swords Dance

@Leftovers

..........

#047 Parasect

- Spore

- Swords Dance

- Return

- Rest/Giga Drain

@Mint Berry/Leftovers

Use Giga Drain if you think Rocks will trouble you, otherwise go Rest.

#049 Venomoth

- Sleep Powder

- Stun Spore

- Psychic

- Double Team / Substitute / SuperSonic

@Leftovers

Whatever you want in the last slot. Believe it or not, Supersonic actually works sometimes.

#049 Venomoth(2)

- Double Team

- Baton Pass

- Substitute

- Stun Spore

@Leftovers

Yah, BPer.

#049 Venomoth(3)

- Swagger

- Psych Up

- Stun Spore

- Sludge Bomb

@Leftovers

Swaggers them, Paralyzes and Psych Ups the attack raise from Swagger, then Sludge bombs to death.

#051 Dugtrio:
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Sludge Bomb
@Leftovers
Sludge Bomb is for Grasses.

#053 Persian:
- Return
- Curse/Screech/Counter
- Shadow Ball
- Rest
@Mint Berry
This follows exactly the same idea as Raticate. Rest berry for happy healing. =P

#055 Golduck:
- Surf
- Cross Chop
- Psychic
- Rest/Yourchoice
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
Fairly standard.

#057 Primeape:
- Rock Slide
- Rest/FocusEnergy
- Counter
- Cross Chop
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Standard, to an extent. I put Counter for Flyers. Rest recovers the health.

#059 Arcanine:
- Sunny Day

- Fire Blast

- ExtremeSpeed

- Rest
@Leftovers
My creation. ExtremeSpeed surprises the opponent a lot.

#062 Poliwrath:
- Mind Reader

- Whirlpool

- Fissure

- Rest

@Mint Berry

Standard. It traps the opponent with Whirlpool, Mind Reads for 100% accuracy, and Fissures for the kill. Cheap.

#065 Alakazam:
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Fire Punch
- Recover
@Leftovers/Miracle Berry
This is the standard Alakazam that is very popular as a starter. Fire Punch is for Scizor/Forretress/Skarmory.

#068 Machamp:
- Counter/Rest
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
@Leftovers
Counter is great for Flyers. Machamp can survive a Lugia’s Aeroblast and knock it back at the beast and make it faint just like that.

#071 Victreebel:
- Stun Spore
- Synthesis
- Swords Dance
- Sludge Bomb
@Leftovers
Rawr.

#071 Victreebel(2)

- Wrap

- Swords Dance

- Sludge Bomb

- Sleep Powder

@Leftovers

Great 'bel. Traps the opponent with Wrap, and Powders. Swords Dances up, and kills.

#073 Tentacruel:
- Surf
- Barrier
- Mirror Coat
- Rest
@Leftovers
Self-explanatory. Tentacruel was one that benefited from the Special-split, gaining a good SpDef, but not too good to where Mirror Coat won’t knock the crap out of any SpAtk-er. Barrier forces the use of a special attack.

#076 Golem:
- Counter/Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Explosion
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
Self-explanatory, VERY useful. Fire Blast could be used against grass types.

#078 Rapidash:

#080 Slowbro (1):
- Curse

- Earthquake

- Ice Beam

- Rest
@Leftovers
My creation. Earthquake doesn't affect flyers, so Ice Beam is there. =/

#080 Slowbro(2)

- Surf

- Fire Blast

- Rest

- Thunder Wave

@Leftovers

Standard.

#082 Magneton:
- HP Water
- Rain Dance
- Thunder
- Thunder Wave
@Miracle Berry/Leftovers
This whole set depends on Rain Dance. It increases Thunder's accuracy, powers up Water HP, and reduces his Fire weakness to normal. Nice.

#083 Farfetch’d:
- Agility
- Return/Rest
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
BP Farfetch’d. Return is for STAB.

#085 Dodrio:
- Endure
- Flail
- Drill Peck
- Haze/TriAttack/???
@MiracleBerry
Fairly standard Dodrio, considering there isn’t much else one can do with it.

#087 Dewgong:
- Rest/Encore
- Ice Beam
- Safeguard
- Surf
@Leftovers
Surf and Ice Beam cover STAB, Safeguard for protection. Encore is good for annoyance, but Rest is also very useful as well.

#089 Muk:
- Curse

- Rest

- Sludge Bomb

- Fire Blast/Explosion
@Leftovers
Where Sludge Bomb doesn't affect steels, Fire Blast does! ^^ Explosion provides a nice alternative if you aren't worried about steels.

#091 Cloyster:
- Spikes
- Clamp
- Ice Beam
- Explosion
@Miracle Berry
This is an excellent lead for a TSS team if you don’t like Forretress. Clamp traps them, letting him do his job nicely.

#094 Gengar:
- Thunderbolt
- Confuse Ray
- Destiny Bond
- Psychic/Haze
@Leftovers/Miracle Berry
Self-explanatory.

#097 Hypno:
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss
@Leftovers/Miracle Berry
Self-explanatory.

#099 Kingler:
- Surf
- Return/Body Slam
- Swords Dance
- Rest
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
I realize that Kingler’s SpAtk is not great. However, if you’re up against a Rock/Ground type, it will do good damage considering their low SpDef. Crabhammer is too chancy, seeing how it’s accuracy is lower, less PP, and the CH rate dropped. Mud-Slap is good for Electrics (a full SDed Mud-Slap can do some damage... right?).

#101 Electrode:
- Thunderbolt

- Thunder Wave

- Explosion

- Screech
@Leftovers
Old RBY standard.

#103 Exeggutor:
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain/Explosion
- Psychic
@Leftovers
Standard vamp-Exeggutor. Explosion provides a nice alternative.

#105 Marowak:
- Earthquake

- Rock Slide

- Swords Dance

- Bug HP
@Thick Club
Bug HP for Grass. Thick Club powers up his attack. This only works if you have a Attack Dv of 13 or less. Only Sword Dance once, or his attack will be reset.

#106 Hitmonlee:
- Curse/Meditate
- Mach Punch
- HP Ghost
- Return
@Leftovers
Self-explanatory.

#106 Hitmonlee (2):
- Body Slam
- Meditate
- Hi Jump Kick
- HP Ghost
@Leftovers
....

#107 Hitmonchan (1):
- Curse
- Mach Punch
- HP Ghost
- Body Slam
@Leftovers
Self-explanatory.

#107 Hitmonchan (2):
- Return
- Agility
- Hi Jump Kick
- Counter/Fire Punch
@Leftovers
Yeah... Counter/Fire Punch is to take out Scizor/Forretress/Skarmory a little bit faster.

#108 Lickitung:
- Curse
- Substitute
- Body Slam/Return
- Earthquake
@Leftovers
Substitute is great for weaker Pokémon with high HP, like Lickitung.

#110 Weezing:
- Haze
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Destiny Bond
@Miracle Berry/Quick Claw
High Special attack pwns.

#112 Rhydon:
- Rest
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
@Leftovers
....

#114 Tangela:
- Growth
- Amnesia
- Stun Spore
- Giga Drain
@Leftovers/Mystery Berry
Worst Special Defense in the game, you NEED amnesia. MysteryBerry could provide more PP for Giga Drain..

#115 Kangaskhan:
- Rest
- Curse
- Return
- Earthquake/Shadow Ball/Counter
@Leftovers
Standard attacking Kangaskhan.

#119 Seaking:
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Agility/Haze
- Return/Rain Dance
@Scope Lens
Self-explanatory. You won’t want to have both Agility and Haze.

#121 Starmie:
- Surf
- Confuse Ray
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
@Leftovers
Standard.

#121 Starmie(2)

- Surf

- Psychic

- Thunderbolt

- Recover

@Leftovers

All out attack.

#122 Mr. Mime:
- Thunder Wave
- Safeguard
- Psychic
- Attract
@Leftovers
Parattraction Mrs. Mime which is very effective.

#122 Mr.Mime(2)

- Barrier

- Thunder Wave

- Baton Pass

- Attract

@Leftovers

Paratract lets him Barrier up and Baton Pass.

- Lovely Kiss
@Leftovers
Standard Perish-Trapper.

#125 Electabuzz:

@Leftovers
Ice Punch takes care of GRound/Rock and GRass, his weaknesses.

#126 Magmar:
- Sunny Day
- Confuse Ray
- Fire Blast
- Thunderpunch
@Confuse Ray
My Magmar of choice.

#127 Pinsir:
- Body Slam
- Swords Dance
- HP Bug
- Submission
@Leftovers
Attacking Pinsir.

#127 Pinsir(2)

- Swords Dance

- HP Ghost

- Submission

- Rest

@Mint Berry

You may argue that HP Bug is better, but I prefer Ghost to get the ones that Submission can't touch. Ghosts are resistant to bug, remember?

#128 Tauros:
- Rest

- Body Slam/Return
- Earthquake/Horn Drill
@Leftovers
Very effective attacking Tauros. Stupid LavosPhoenix.. >:O

#130 Gyarados:

Gyarados was downed badly in GS. :(

@Leftovers
Very reliable attacker.

#132 Ditto:
- Transform
@Metal Powder
Standard. =D

#134 Vaporeon:
- Rest
- Surf
- Ice Beam

@Leftovers/Mint Berry
This is the R/B/Y standard made even better with an item.

#135 Jolteon:

@Leftovers
Attract pwns. My lead Pokémon.

#136 Flareon:

@Leftovers
Attacking Flareon.

#139 Omastar:

@Mint Berry
Hazing Omastar.

#141 Kabutops:

@Leftovers/Mint Berry
Attacking Kabutops.

#142 Aerodactyl:
- Wing Attack
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
- Reflect/Substitute/Swagger/Whirlwind
@Leftovers
Standard.

#143 Snorlax:
- Curse
- Rest
- Double-Edge/Return
- Earthquake
@Leftovers
Standard Curselax we have all come to know and hate.

#143 Snorlax: (2)

- Curse

- Rest

- Sleep Talk

- Earthquake

@Leftovers

Very effective.

#144 Articuno:
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Bubblebeam
- Reflect
@Leftovers
Rain Dance reduces Articuno’s weakness to Fire attacks, and, with Bubblebeam, can easily fend off Rock types. Pity it can't get Surf. :(

#145 Zapdos:
- Drill Peck
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Whirlwind/Rest
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
Standard Zapdos.

#146 Moltres:
- Fire Blast/Flamethrower
- Sunny Day
- Safeguard
- Whirlwind
@Leftovers
A Moltres’s Sunny Dayed Fire Blast is ~the~ strongest element attack in the game. Safeguard for protection and pseudo-passing, Whirlwind for pseudo-Hazing.

#146 Moltres(2)

- Fire Blast

- Sunny day

- Rest

- Wing Attack

@Mint Berry

My personal fave.

#149 Dragonite:
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Wing Attack
- Haze/Light Screen/Ice Beam
@Leftovers
More standardness.

#150 Mewtwo:
- Psychic/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt
- Safeguard
- Thunder Wave
- Recover
@Miracle Berry
Standard opening Mewtwo.

#151 Mew (1):
- Swords Dance
- Submission/Earthquake
- Shadow Ball
- Softboiled
@Miracle Berry/Scope Lens/Leftovers
Very powerful attacking Mew.

#151 Mew (2):
- Thunder Wave
- Earthquake
- Giga Drain
- Shadow Ball
@Leftovers/Miracle Berry
Very effective opening Mew. Thunder Wave begins an inevitable paralysis line, Earthquake takes care of Electrics, Giga Drain takes care of Waters and aids recovery since there is no Softboiled, and Shadow Ball takes care of Psychics.

#151 Mew (3):
- Roar
- Ice Beam/Thunder Wave/Psychic/Ancientpower
- Ice Beam/Thunder Wave/Psychic/Ancientpower
- Rest
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
A moveset I came up with in my spare time. Useful? Probably not.

#151 Mew (4):
- Whirlpool
- Sweet Scent
- Horn Drill
- Softboiled
@Leftovers/Bright Powder
I love this Mew set, cheap as it is. Trap the enemy, Sweet Scent 5 or so times, and Horn Drill it. Heal when you need.

#151 Mew (5):
- Whirlpool
- Sweet Scent
- Zap Cannon/Blizzard
- Softboiled/Rest
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
This is the same idea as the above Mew, but this moveset can fill in an element you may be missing, and requires fewer Sweet Scents.

#154 Meganium:
- Rest
- Counter
- Earthquake
- Razor Leaf
@Leftovers
Very reliable attacker, covering many grounds. Razor Leaf was chosen over Giga Drain for more PP.

#157 Typhlosion:
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast
- Thunderpunch
- Earthquake
@Miracle Berry/Leftovers
Standard attacking Typhlosion, because there isn’t much else you can do with it...

#160 Feraligatr:
- Surf
- Rest
- Earthquake
- Ancientpower
@Leftovers
I realize that Surf + Earthquake is a little redundant, but one covers STAB (with his average SpAtk), and the other covers weaknesses.

#162 Furret:
- Rest
- Curse
- Amnesia/Shadow Ball
- Double-Edge/Return
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
With Furret’s high HP, raising its Attack and Defense could lead to a new tank.

#164 Noctowl:
- Return
- Reflect
- Wing Attack
- Rest
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
....Yep.

#166 Ledian:
- Safeguard
- Agility
- Light Screen/Reflect
- Baton Pass
@Leftovers
BatonPasses the Agility, and with that comes the Safeguard and Reflect/LightScreen.

#168 Ariados:
- Agility
- Spider Web
- Baton Pass
- Sludge Bomb
@Bright Powder/Leftovers
Support Ariados, although much better than the above Ledian.

#169 Crobat:
- Fly
- Toxic
- Confuse Ray
- Mean Look
@Leftovers
Standard.

#171 Lanturn:

@Leftovers
Fairly standard Ampharos.

#182 Bellossom:

#186 Politoed:

@Leftovers
Attacking Politoed.

#189 Jumpluff:
- Stun Spore
- Attract
- Leech Seed
- Encore
@Leftovers
Annoyance! Mega Drain over Giga Drain for more PP.

#190 Aipom:
- Rest
- Curse
- Shadow Ball
- Return
@Mint Berry
Ahahaha, my favorite. Swept numerous teams with it. Sadly, it only works against newbies. :(

#192 Sunflora:
- Sunny Day
- Solarbeam
- Synthesis
- Swagger/Protect/HP Fire
@Quick Claw/Charcoal
The Sunny Day/Solarbeam combo tends to be discouraged on Grasses, but Sunflora is just so incredibly awful (lowest total stats for all evolved Pokémon in the game) that it really needs the one-shot Solar Beam and full heal Synthesis.

#193 Yanma

- Endure

- Reversal

- HP bug

- Screech

@Anything

Attach anything except leftovers. I prefer Scope Lens or Miracleerry. Nothing much you can do with this piece of crap. :/

#195 Quagsire:
- Haze/Rest
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
Hah, it's Special Attack sucks, so I put physical attacking moves on it.

#196 Espeon:

- Morning Sun
@Leftovers

=X

#196 Espeon(2)

- Reflect

- Psychic

- Zap Cannon

- Morning Sun

@Leftovers

My other lead poke. Yes, Zap Cannon. It may have that awful hit rate, but it works for paralyzation and against those stupid Skarmories that resist Psychic.

#196 Espeon(3)

- Psychic

- Sunny Day

- Morning Sun

- HP Fire

@Leftovers

Haha, innovative. Sunny Day powers up the Morning Sun and HP Fire.

#197 Umbreon

Standard.

#197 Umbreon (2):

The very effective Umbreon standard established from almost day 1 of the Japanese release.

#197 Umbreon (3):

- Curse

- Substitute

- Double Edge

- Moonlight

@Leftovers

My devious creation. Sub + Curse makes for a STRONG sub, and the Sub also takes all the recoil, while I recover with Moonlight + Leftovers.

#198 Murkrow

- Drill Peck

- Mirror Move

- Haze

- HP Dark

@Leftovers

Hahaha.

#199 Slowking

- Surf

- Curse/Psychic

@Leftovers

EQ for electrics. You can curse to power EQ up, or just use Psychic.

#200 Misdreavus:
- Destiny Bond/Rest/Pain Split
- Mean Look
- Perish Song
- Protect
@Leftovers
Standard Perish Trapping Misdreavus.

#202 Wobbuffet:
- Counter
- Mirror Coat
- Safeguard
- Destiny Bond
@Miracle Berry
Um, standard, because you literally cannot do anything else with it.

#203 Girafarig:
- Agility
- Amnesia
- Double Team
- Baton Pass
@Leftovers
BP Girafarig.

#205 Forretress:
- Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Sandstorm/Protect
- Explosion
@Miracle Berry
Standard opening Forretress. Rapid Spin blows away enemy spikes. Sorta like an anti Forretress. :P

#206 Dunsparce:
- Glare
- Curse
- Return
- Rest
@Mint Berry
Har. Glare to keep the first attack advantage. Not much to do with this thing. :/

#207 Gligar:
- Screech
- Counter
- Earthquake
- Wing Attack
@Leftovers
Bah.

#208 Steelix:
- Curse
- Explosion/Roar
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
Standard attacking Steelix.

#210 Granbull:
- Return
- Reflect/Curse
- Heal Bell/Shadow Ball
- Rest
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
Fairly standard Granbull. If you want an attacking Bull, go with Curse, Return, Shadow ball, Rest. Else go with Reflect, Return, Heal Bell, Rest.

#211 Qwilfish:
- Surf
- Haze
- Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
@Miracle Berry
STAB and support all in one nice, weak package. Stay with Cloyster or Forretress.

#212 Scizor
- Agility
- Swords Dance
- HP Bug
- Baton Pass
@Leftovers

Standard Baton Passing Scizor.

#213 Shuckle:
- Rest
- Sandstorm/Swagger
- Encore/Protect
- Safeguard
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
I’m slowly beginning to realize just how limited Shuckle really is. After 2 Swaggers to ANYTHING that attacks, they can easily waste about half of Shuckle’s HP. Sure, its Defense is 558, but its HP is also only 243. Shuckle is nothing more than an annoyer and a supporter, but still, very limited.

#214 Heracross

- Earthquake

- Megahorn

- Endure

- Reversal

@MiracleBerry

Har, standard. I prefer the one below this.

#214 Heracross(2)

- Curse

- Counter

- Megahorn

- Rest

@Mint Berry

This is McGraw's creation. Counter for flying Pokémon, and Rest to recover health. Curse + Megahorn owns. After two curses, it can survive most flying attacks.

#215 Sneasel:
- Rest/Reflect
- Screech
- Shadow Ball
- Return
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Because of its many weaknesses, Sneasel gets a lot of criticism. Reflect at least tones down physical attacks (although it would still be dead to a Machamp’s Cross Chop) and is good for pseudo-passing.

#217 Ursaring:
- Rest
- Curse
- Return
- Earthquake
@Leftovers
Standard.

#219 Magcargo:
- Curse
- Rock Slide
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
@Quick Claw/Charcoal
Well... what else can you do with this piece of crap? It probably can’t survive the setup.

#221 Piloswine
- Curse
- Rest
- Earthquake
- Body Slam
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Cursing Piloswine.

#222 Corsola

- Surf
- Mirror Coat
- Ancient Power
- Recover
@Leftovers
Standard Corsola.

#224 Octillery
- Haze
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Return/Rest
@Leftovers
Standard....?

#224 Octillery(2)

- Surf

- Ice Beam

- Flamethrower

- Rest

@Mint Berry

More standard-like.

#225 Delibird

#226 Mantine:
- Surf
- Rest
- Confuse Ray
- Rain Dance/Haze
@Mint Berry
The much-debated Maintine deserves something with that Special Defense *drool*... I just don’t know what.

#226 Mantine(2)

- Hydro Pump

- Rain Dance

- Haze

- Rest

@Mint Berry/Leftovers

Another devilish McGraw creation.

#227 Skarmory
- Rest/Protect
- Curse
- Drill Peck
- Whirlwind
@Leftovers
Standard.

#229 Houndoom
- Sunny Day
- Solarbeam
- Fire Blast
- Crunch
@Miracle Berry
Standard.

#229 Houndoom(2)

- Sunny Day/Rest

- Fire Blast

- Pursuit

- Counter

@Leftovers

Likes switching into Psychics and when they try to switch, Pursuit gets boosted and hurts the enemy. I like. Counter works well with his low Defense.

#230 Kingdra:
- Surf
- Dragon Breath/Ice Beam
- Return/Ice Beam/Attract
- Rest
@Mint Berry/Leftovers
Standard.

#232 Donphan:
- Rest
- Curse
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power
@Leftovers
Standard.

#233 Porygon2
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Agility/Thunder Wave
- Recover
@Leftovers
The Agility/Thunder Wave “debate” ultimately comes down to this: do you need an attacker that will go first each turn or one that can setup for later team members?

#233 Porygon2 (2)
- Curse
- Double-Edge
- Ice Beam
- Recover
@Leftovers
A variant of the standard attacker.

#234 Stantler
- Return
- Earthquake
- Light Screen
- Confuse Ray
@Leftovers
Most of the attacks that you’ll be hit with are Special based, so Light Screen is all the better.

#235 Smeargle
- Recover
- Spore
- Nightmare
- Super Fang
@Quick Claw/Leftovers
Har.

#235 Smeargle (2)
- Spore
- Mean Look
- Lock On
- Horn Drill
@Leftovers
If you BP Smeargle a lot of defense, and a lot of Speed, this thing rocks. If not, well... sorry.

#235 Smeargle (3)
- Spore
- Confuse Ray
- Mean Look
- Baton Pass
@Bright Powder
Annoying support Smeargle that still requires some sort of pre-requisite Speed boost.

#235 Smeargle (4)
- Spore
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Agility
@Miracle Berry
Starter Smeargle.

#235 Smeargle (5)

- Belly Drum

- Baton Pass

- Spore

- Destiny Bond

@Quick Claw/MiracleBerry/Leftovers

Baton Passes Belly Drum, while sporing the enemy. Destiny Bond ensures that a Pokémon is taken down with it.

#237 Hitmontop
- Rest
- Counter
- Return
- Hi Jump Kick
@Mint Berry
Self-explanatory.

#241 Miltank
- Body Slam
- Earthquake/Attract/Psych Up
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
@Leftovers
Standard Miltank. Normally, people go with EQ in the second slot, but sometimes Attract and Psych Up work well.

#242 Blissey
- Counter
- Light Screen
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
@Leftovers
Standard non heal belling blissey.

#242 Blissey (2)
- Attract/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Flamethrower
- Light Screen
- Softboiled
- Heal Bell
@Leftovers
Standard heal bell support blissey.

#242 Blissey (3)

- Curse

- Double Edge

- Counter/anything

- Softboiled

@Leftovers

Cursing Blissey.

#243 Raikou:
- Reflect/Roar
- Crunch
- Thunderbolt
- Rest
@Leftovers
Fairly standard Raikou, it’s unfortunate that it can’t get Thunder Wave.

#244 Entei:
- Rest
- Fire Blast
- Sunny Day
- Solarbeam
@Leftovers/Mint Berry
Standard Entei.

#245 Suicune:
- Rest
- Surf
- Mirror Coat/Ice Beam
- Roar
@Leftovers
Standard..

#248 Tyranitar:
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Ancient Power/Rock Slide
- Flamethrower/Thunderbolt
@Leftovers
Elemental Attack T-Tar. Again, use whatever you want on it.

#249 Lugia
- Aeroblast
- Ice Beam
- Safeguard
- Recover
@Miracle Berry
An absolute **** to kill.

#249 Lugia(2)

- Aeroblast

- Curse

- Hydro Pump/Earthquake

@Leftovers

Har har har. The unfallable Cursgia. Hydro Pump if you think you'll have trouble with Skarm, else go with EQ.

#250 Ho-oh (1):

- Sunny Day
- Solar Beam
- Recover
@Leftovers
Standard.

#250 Ho-oh (2):
- Sacred Fire

@Leftovers
Tank. An absolute tank.

#251 Celebi:
- Psychic
- Leech Seed/Giga Drain
- Heal Bell
- Recover
@Miracle Berry/Leftovers
Har. Standard.

Glossary

Well. This is to familiarize newbies with Poke-Talk. Thanks to SergioEliteX for suggesting this.

H4x0r 5p34k

Also known as Haxor Speak. This is a language sorta thing that replaces letters with numbers. L1k3 7h15. For example, 1 instead of l and 5 instead of S and 3 instead of E. And so on.

Metagame

The type of gameplay played around your area. For example, the GSBot metagame may include Miltank. This may or may not be defined in team rates. For example, here's my idea of the GSBot Metagame.

GSBOT METAGAME

Overused: Miltank, Zapdos

Common: Skarmory, Suicune

Standard Rules: No 1HKOs(Horn Drill, Fissure, Guillotine) No Super Legendaries(Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Celebi, Ho-oh), Sleep Clause(No more than one Pokémon may be asleep at one time(Exception: Rest)), Species Clause(You can't hav two of the same Pokémon)

Notes: Many people there are quite unfriendly, and complain heavily about luck. Don't go in asking "hi ppl plz can u tell me what is a gsbot" because they'll only flame you and ask you to press Alt + F4. Always include a Heal Beller in your team, as status changes are quite common.

That's the GSBot Metagame as I see it, feel free to correct me. Overused is Pokémon that are used a lot, and are seen a lot. Common are Pokémon that you'll usually see, but are slightly less common than overused. Standard rules are the rules that are used in the area. For example, some people might play with species clause, some might not. Some might no holds barred. It's all up to you. Feel free to include a metagame with your rates, it'll make my life a lot easier while rating. Notes are just miscellaneous bits of useful info.

OHKO / 1HKO

The moves Horn Drill, Fissure and Guillotine are 1HKOs(normally referred to as OHKOs). That is because they, if they hit, KO your Pokémon, no matter what health he has. People consider this quite cheap, because it takes no skill to use.

CH

CH means Critical Hit. I'm sure you know what Critical Hits are. They have a 6% chance of happening, and when they do, double the power of the move used.

Standard

A standard is the most common, widely accepted, moveset for a certain Pokémon. For example, the standard Miltank is BodySlam/MilkDrink/HealBell/Earthquake. This is the most widely used moveset for Miltank, and usually the most effective. You'll find this used quite frequently at message boards.

Pseudo-Passing

Pseudo passing is passing the effect of one move to another Pokémon by means of other than baton pass. Moves that pseudo pass are Safeguard, Reflect, and Light Screen. For example, if I had Espeon out and used Reflect, and then switched to another Pokémon, the effect of Reflect would be passed to that Pokémon until it wears out. Not too complicated, I hope.

FP

FP = Full Paralyzation/Fully Paralysed. For example, "Gah, FP right when he needed it.", would mean "Gah, fully paralyzed at the most convenient moment for the enemy." Or something. :P

Cheap

This would be obvious, but I felt I had to include it, cause it is used so much. Cheap would be defined in the Pokémon Community as taking no skill to use, or something like that. Therefore, "OHKOs are cheap." would mean that OHKOs take no skill to use, and are no fun.

Or something.

STAB

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus. When a Pokémon uses an attack of the same element as itself, it gets a 50% extra damage bonus. For example:

Thunderbolt on a Tyranitar = 95 base power. T-Tar is not an electric type.

Thunderbolt on a Jolteon = (95 * 1.5) base power. Jolteon IS an electric type, therefore it gets the bonus.

Someone email me with more, and I'll put them up ASAP.
